The International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) estimates that global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales will hit an all-time high in 2025, reaching US$125.5 billion, an increase of 7.4% year-on-year. With advanced logic, memory and technology transformation, the sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment in 2026 are expected to further climb to US$13.81 billion.

SEMI said that semiconductor industries are closely following the uncertainty of overall economics, but artificial intelligence (AI) drives chip innovation demand drives expansion and advanced production investment.

SEMI pointed out that circle equipment includes circle process, circle factory facilities and mask equipment. Driven by the growth of the sales of crystal foundry and memory application, the sales of crystal factory equipment in 2025 will be expected to reach US$110.8 billion, an annual increase of 6.2%, higher than the estimated US$107.6 billion at the end of 2024.

Driven by advanced logic and memory capacity expansion drive for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, SEMI estimates that the sales of crystal factory equipment is expected to increase by another 10.2% to $122.1 billion in 2026.

Among them, the sales of equipment for crystalline foundry and logic will increase by 6.7% in 2025 to US$64.8 billion, and an increase of 6.6% in 2026 to US$69 billion.

Memory component, SEMI estimates that the sales of NAND Flash equipment will increase by 42.5% in 2025 to US$13.7 billion, and another 9.7% in 2026 to US$15 billion. Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) equipment sales will increase by 6.4% in 2025 and another 12.1% in 2026.

With the significant increase in component architecture complexity, AI efficiency and high-frequency wide memory (HBM) demand is strong, and the sales of rear-end test equipment and packaging equipment in 2025 are expected to increase by 23.2% and 7.7% respectively, reaching US$9.3 billion and US$5.4 billion. In 2026, the sales volume of test equipment and packaging equipment will increase by 5% and 15% respectively.

SEMI said that by 2026, the sales of semiconductor equipment in Taiwan, China and South Korea will be among the top three regions in the world; among them, the sales of semiconductor equipment in China will fall from the peak of US$49.5 billion found in 2024, but it will still rank first in the world.
