Di Matteo: The 2012 Champions League championship will always be a good memory. Hazard was so talented when he joined
Roberto Di Matteo said that the team that Chelsea won the Champions League with over Bayern Munich in 2012 will be forever connected by that special bond.
After Liverpool Legends defeated Chelsea Legends 1-0, Di Matteo, who has coached Chelsea, looked back on one of the greatest victories in the history of the Blues, when they won the Champions League for the first time, when he was the team's head coach.
"When you win a game, a trophy, this connection will stay with you for a lifetime. Every time we get together and see these players who have lifted the Big Ear Cup together, it is a beautiful feeling and emotional experience. Whenever there is a game like this, they always respond positively. They love coming back here and putting on the blue jersey. We have created a lot of great memories for the players and the supporters. It is a very good day to see everyone again."
Hazard was also involved in this charity game, which he does not usually return to Stamford Bridge. Hazard joined Chelsea shortly before Di Matteo left and the two worked together for five months. Even in that brief time, the Italian coach could tell there was something special about Hazard.
"Hazard is a special player. I think everyone fell in love with him from the moment he first put on a Chelsea shirt. He came to the team in 2012 when I was in charge. You could see the talent he had at that time, even though he was only 19 years old. He showed his extraordinary ability and quality over the next few years and had a very successful time here. Thank you to him for being here today and showing his talent again." I think people really enjoyed seeing him play again for Chelsea today."
