Pet cats and dogs are not as prosperous as they appear. We don’t know their sorrows.
Cats and dogs are pampered in the United States to an almost unparalleled degree: their owners treat them like their own flesh and blood, eat canned food, wear gorgeous clothes, live in a single room, have toys, and even sleep in the same bed with their owners. When traveling with the owner, special hospitals and doctors provide treatment when sick: injections, fluoroscopy, surgery, medication... This is both embarrassing and unbelievable for all the living beings living on this planet who suffer from hunger and cold. However, the situation and fate of pet cats and dogs are not always as glorious as they appear. They are also bound to fall out of favor, be abandoned, and even be brutally "executed." Let me tell you a true story.
An old man abroad had three cats, a big black cat named MIMi, and two tabby cats named DIDi and FsFi. MIMi was originally an abandoned and disgraced person, wandering the streets. F IiF turned out to be an abandoned one and had been sent to an animal shelter and locked up in an iron cage. The two of them adopted him because they took DIDi to a mountain park for a "leaf". When DIDi was first introduced to the world, he was frightened by the big wolf dog and ran away. They searched for it but still found it missing.
But at the animal shelter, MIMi grew old and lost her temper. She often went out to "hang out" and got sick. When we went on a trip, she finally disappeared. Maybe she died outside or wandered somewhere else, which left us with deep regrets. The first time DI went out, he was run over and injured his leg. His temperament became ferocious and he also developed other diseases. After multiple treatments by the veterinarian, he finally thought it was hopeless and gave him an injection to euthanize him. With deep regret, the daughter and son-in-law found a feng shui treasured place to bury it. It was considered a lucky one, much better than the "unlucky ones" who fell out of favor and were abandoned. Because FIFi had a child at home, he was afraid that he would spread diseases and cause harm, so he first gave him up for custody, and then tried to find someone to adopt him, but no one wanted him. Finally, he had no choice but to send him to an animal shelter against his will. He paid a "donation fee" and signed a note not to investigate his whereabouts anymore, and reluctantly let him go to his fate. It is still sad to think about the scene when he was forced to be sent away and he resisted desperately.
In short, in the United States, most pet cats and dogs inevitably fall out of favor, are abandoned, and are eventually euthanized due to a variety of reasons, such as owners moving, losing their jobs, landlords not allowing pets, too many pets being born, getting sick or picking up bad habits, etc. Therefore, the disposal of homeless pets on the streets in the United States has become a major social problem. There are animal shelters in various states in the United States that specialize in taking in abandoned pets. Their duty is to protect orphaned pets. The shelter accidentally discovered that FIiF looked like DIDi, with gray hair all over his body, so he took him home as a replacement. It's true that everything in the world is full of surprises, and DDIi was miraculously found again in the end. In this way, this pair of tabby cats often "fight endlessly" because of the priority of arriving home.
No matter what, they all receive the equal treatment they deserve. Although it is difficult to compare with the treatment that wealthy people receive when they keep pets, there are many unforgettable stories: DIDi and FIiF both strayed into the pipeline, and we worked hard to find them and stayed up all night. Especially when DIDi was lost, we braved the dark night, rushed early in the morning, feasted on wind and rain, climbed mountains and waded in all directions, and the love between flesh and blood was nothing more than this. Once again, they were infected with fleas by a friend's cat. We ran around looking for medicine, bathing, and cleaning carpets, which was a headache. As for getting them treated by veterinarians when they were sick, it was a piece of cake. All in all, it takes a lot of time, energy and money to raise them.
Time is ruthless, and as cats and family circumstances change, good times are hard to come by forever. For large animals, pets that are taken in are adopted free of charge by enthusiasts, and various low-cost or free services are provided to adopters. They even provide lifelong free medical care for some adopted dogs and cats. They also provide free pet training, pet grooming, sterilization, and free supplies. They also raise kittens and puppies that have been abandoned after birth or have just been weaned, and educate the public on animal protection, etc. However, due to the large number of pets being taken in and the few adopted out, shelters in various places do not have enough manpower, material and financial resources to take in and carry out various tasks, and they cannot allow abandoned pets to wander around, attack pedestrians, transmit diseases and endanger residents, so the only way left is euthanasia.
