The Telegraph reported that Arsenal plans to expand the Emirates Stadium, aiming to increase its capacity from the current 60,700 to more than 70,000, a move that will allow it to surpass West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur to re-owned London's largest stadium, which will bring tens of millions of pounds of additional match-day revenue per year once the expansion is completed.

It is understood that the expansion plan mainly focuses on internal transformation of the stadium, such as changing the bleacher slope, reconfiguring seats, etc., while the bowl-like structure outside the stadium will remain basically the same.

The entire project is expected to cost a lot, and the outside world speculates that it may reach 500 million pounds. Due to the complex engineering, Arsenal will likely need a temporary home court, and Wembley Stadium is seen as the most obvious option.

Arsenal senior executives have studied the successful cases of Real Madrid's doubled game day revenue after renovating the Bernabeu Stadium. The Kroenke family, the Arsenal boss, also has relevant experience, who led the construction of the $5.5 billion Los Angeles SoFi Stadium.

However, the project is still in the internal planning stage, with a working group that has been established for more than a year of research, but has not yet entered the stage of applying for a planning permit, which may take up to five years.
