Bellasino: I couldn t find my mom when I first arrived in the UK, I was placed in a foster care center
Recently, former Premier League player Bellasino was interviewed by FourFourTwo, and he talked about his miserable experience of escaping from his hometown of Burundi to the UK.
Berazino was once the target of Premier League giants, but recently he played in the second-level Slovenia league. Although his career has not reached the heights he expected, Bellasino's story is still admirable given his background.
Berasino is 32 years old and was born in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi. At that time, the brutal war lasted for 11 years. When he was a child, due to family poverty, he had to collect plastic bags and make homemade football. At the age of four, he lost his father in the war and did not know the reason for his death later. At the age of ten, Bellasino fled Burundi and came to England to reunite with his mother and siblings. In an interview with FourFourTwo magazine, he revealed that he was placed in a foster care center when he first arrived in the UK until DNA tests proved his mother.
He said: "That time was difficult, and when I first arrived in the UK, no one could find my mom. I had to go to the police station and they found that her contact information had changed. Eventually they contacted her, but I was still placed in a foster care center waiting for DNA and blood test results."
After settling in the UK, Bellasino began playing football at school and gradually participated in Sunday leagues, eventually joining West Brumwich's youth training camp at the age of 11. At West Brom, Bellasino began to make his mark and made his first appearance for the team at the age of 19. He also represents youth teams at all levels in England, from the U16 to the U21, and is considered one of the most promising young players in England.
Although he performed well at the beginning of the 2014/15 season and was called by Hodgson, he ultimately failed to get a national team chance. Belasino has never been able to play against Scotland and Slovenia.
Later, Bellasino decided to play for his motherland, Burundi, and he said: "I decided to help Burundi advance to the 2019 African Cup of Nations, and we did it. When I sang the national anthem, I could feel my father's soul, which almost made me cry. Burundi is a beautiful place, and although it is still relatively behind in terms of technology, we are working hard to improve and my mom moved back there."
Bellasino played in England for teams such as West Bromwich, Stoke City and Xie Pai Wednesday in the Premier League, Championship and League One. At his peak, there were rumors that he would join Tottenham, but ultimately failed to make a move. If the transfer is successful, perhaps his career will continue to rise.
However, the forward, who played for the Burundian national team 18 times, failed to reach his professional peak and has played in India, Cyprus and Slovenia in the past three years.
