Pipes are a pathological manifestation of some foreign bodies other than cats swallowing or licking food, and are also pathologically considered to be a common nutritional metabolic disease. This abnormal pathological behavior refers to the cat's special habit of something that should not be sucked, just as some people like to bite their nails or suck their fingers, and the cat's sucking objects are mostly wool fabrics, textiles, owners or plants.

Cat pica is often manifested in swallowing foreign objects such as wood chips, stones, rags, mud, sand, hair, grass, feces, etc. According to the characteristics of the swallowing foreign objects, whether they are retained in the digestive tract, or where they are retained, sharp foreign objects will damage the mouth, which can cause salivation and oral bleeding; or even cause obstruction or perforation of foreign objects in the esophagus, stomach, and intestines.

It is not uncommon for some to form hair masses in the stomach due to animals licking the hair. When there are foreign objects in the digestive tract, cats often have symptoms such as anorexia, hunger strike, and vomiting. Then we must take some precautions for this.

Treatment method:

Most food sucking behaviors occur in cats with heavy dependent hearts. They retain the dependent psychology of childhood (normal cats are quite independent). Therefore, this excessive dependence psychological treatment will help improve abnormal food sucking behavior, and the stimulation of cat games should be increased, activities at home should be increased, and new things should be given to stimulate its curiosity. If possible, let it contact the outside world more and take it out for a walk.

Of course, the most important thing is to strengthen feeding management, adjust the nutritional structure of the food, and supplement trace elements and multiple vitamins in moderation. For example, adding multiple vitamin tablets to cat food is ideal (21 gold vitamins), calcium tablets, cod liver oil, etc. Also, we must deworm regularly. Adding cellulose substances to food can also improve the habit of sucking plants, such as rice bran and toilet paper. For cats sucking textiles, some strongly odor-resistant barriers can be sprayed on these textiles, such as ucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, etc., or some mechanisms can be placed under the clothes to scare the cats from getting closer. The principle of prevention and treatment is to take laxatives or deep enemas to eliminate foreign matter in the digestive tract. Pets with gastrointestinal diseases should be treated for pets caused by primary disease and intestinal parasites. It is best to use levamisazole hydrochloride, 10 mg per kilogram of body weight, oral, or ivermectin, 0.2 mg per kilogram of body weight, intramuscular injection, and repeat the medication once after 1 week.

Vetering: Raising cats using these methods is both safe and cost-effective.

Cats should be stopped in time after they have different behaviors:

1. Whenever a cat has different food behaviors, immediately spray water with a water gun on it. Repeat this way to gradually remove pica. (Just be scared away, do not maliciously spray water)

2. For fixed items such as wires and wood, you can apply sensitive odors (such as deodorant, perfume, etc.) to the cat, and the cat will not approach because of its disgust of the smell.

When a cat has abnormal behavior, we should first look for the cause from ourselves and solve the problem patiently. Cats who are sensitive to nature should not be beaten, scolded and punished, as this will often backfire and even cause more serious psychological disorders.
