If a cat has only one ball, there is no need to sterilize it? Learn about the dangers of cryptorchidism

The cat's balls are part of the reproductive system, but a cat shoveler accidentally discovered that the cat owner had only one ball. Does this mean that the cat owner is actually incomplete and has no fertility, so is there no need for sterilization?

Cats only have one or no one. In this case, sterilization surgery is very necessary. This situation is called cryptorchidism. Let’s learn more about what cryptorchidism is and what harm it is.

First, cryptorchidism is a congenital defect. When a cat is still young, the testicles remain in their abdominal cavity, and it takes a little time to fall from the abdominal cavity to where it should exist, that is, in the scrotum.

Generally speaking, it takes 2-3 months to complete this process. The testicles of the kitten are relatively small and very soft, so they can still move back and forth between the scrotum and groin. It takes almost 6 months old, and then the naked eye can see their balls more clearly from the appearance. In other words, there is no lack of balls at this time, and the hanging heart can be put down.

But since cryptorchidism is congenital, some cats' testicles will have accidents when they descend to the scrotum, such as falling to the middle and getting lost, running to other places, or the testicles are more stubborn and still choose to rely on the abdominal cavity and refuse to descend. This situation is called cryptorchidism.

cryptorchidism mostly manifests itself in unilateral cryptorchidism, which means that there is only one egg. This situation may be ectopic testicles or may remain in the abdominal cavity.

If neither of the two balls is, it is also called double cryptorchidism. Basically, both testicles are left in the abdominal cavity, which also means that the subsequent surgery will be more difficult.

In addition, on the other hand, if the cat is over 6 months old, there is no balls left and there will be no more cases of growing. If you encounter this situation, don’t have any luck.

Did the cat of cryptorchidis become "father-in-law"?

Will the cryptorchidism in male cats affect fertility? Is there still a chance to be a father? Male cats with unilateral cryptorchidism are actually fertile, but unilateral cryptorchidism has a certain legacy, and even if male cats with cryptorchidism can produce sperm, their quality is not high. Therefore, it is not recommended to let cryptorchidized male cats breed.

And the male cat with double cryptorchidism doesn't need to think too much about it. Basically, there is no chance to be a father. Well, that's right, it's my father-in-law. Here we also want to express our deep condemnation to those unscrupulous vendors who use cryptorchid cats as breeding cats! By the way, I would like to remind you that it is best to have some understanding of their parents when buying cats to avoid genetic diseases.

The Chosen of the Cryptidian cat may be a time bomb

Many people may think that cats can avoid the trouble of sterilization because of lack of balls. In fact, cats with cryptorchidian cats are actually a way to save their lives for cats.

According to relevant clinical cases statistics, it can be found that the probability of tumorization of cryptorchidized testes is 9 times that of normal testes. There is also a data that the proportion of cats suffering from cryptorchidism accounts for 1.3%-3.8%, and it mostly occurs in purebred cats.

Cats with cryptorchidism have been left in the abdominal cavity or in the inguinal canal for a long time, and the influence of body temperature is like being in a large furnace, which can easily cause malignant changes in the testicle cells, thus forming malignant tumors.

In addition, cryptorchidis also produces abnormal endocrine hormones in the body, which may lead to other complications such as prostate lesions, hematopoietic dysfunction, and may also cause symptoms such as systemic hair loss.

So, for cryptorchidized cats, it is recommended to undergo sterilization surgery as soon as possible to remove the eggs. After all, for cryptorchidized cats, it is like there is a time bomb in the body, and no one knows when it will explode.

There is also a small reminder here. Many people may raise male cats because sterilization surgery is simple, with fewer side effects, and the risk is lower than that of female cats. However, for cryptorchidized cats, sometimes they need to open their abdomen to find and remove hidden testicles, which is even more difficult than that of female cats with sterilization.

How to distinguish between cryptorchidized cats and castrated cats, which are also cats without balls. How to distinguish whether they are sterilized cats or cats born with double cryptorchidized cats? There are two small ways to distinguish.

★ Can be distinguished from behavioral aspects. After sterilization, cats will basically no longer show what they are in estrus, such as urinating marks everywhere, and the urine smells more severe, or their temperament becomes irritable and easy to fight. (Cats who have just undergone sterilization surgery have not completely subsided because the hormones in their bodies have not completely subsided, and there are still signs of estrus)

And cats with bicryptorchidism only seem to have no balls on the surface, but in fact their reproductive system is still normal, so they still show obvious estrus behavior.

★Observe the penis. There will be some small barbs on the surface of the penis of a male cat, which is a manifestation of testosterone in the cat's body. Cats with double cryptorchidism naturally have these small barbs. After sterilization, the cat will disappear within about 6 weeks, and the penis will become smooth. This can also be easier to identify sterilized cats and bicryptorchidized cats.

In other words, to see whether the cat is sterilized, just looking at the balls is not the most accurate method. It also requires a decision based on observing the surface of the penis.

In general, whether it is sterilization surgery or testicular removal surgery performed due to cryptorchidism problems, although the possibility of postoperative complications is not high, postoperative care requires more attention from the cat owner, and at the same time, it is also necessary to soothe the mood of his cat owner. After all, it is you who make people no longer complete.
