I picked up a kitten next to my home. It turned out to be a fishing cat with a frequent species.
Most cats are very afraid of water and don't like to get the fur on their bodies wet, but there is a cat who is born to swim in the water! A few days ago, a family in Thailand looked out the window and found that there was a single kitten on the road. After careful observation, they found that it seemed to be an ordinary cat. Therefore, they decided to inform the Wildlife Rescue Organization. They found that they rescued a fishing cat that was rated as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
At that time, the Thai Wildlife Friendship Foundation (WFFT) took over and immediately discovered that this little guy was a very rare fishing cat. Fishing cats are mainly distributed in Southeast Asia, living in reed wetlands along the river and evergreen forests on tropical coasts, and are good at swimming and preying on fish and aquatic organisms.
However, the WFFT staff were very puzzled. How could this fishing cat, which was obviously just a few hours old, have no mother? It turned out that the family had picked up a cat a few years ago. After taking care of it, they put it wild and returned to nature. However, it still came back to visit every now and then. They thought it was the mother of the kitten.
Rescue personnel speculated that the female cat must have thought that this family was the safest place, so they chose to produce near the house. The family also said that they had seen it move the baby recently, and maybe one of them was accidentally left behind during the process.
